NCA challenges Home Affairs committee on shortage of care workers

The new points based system for awarding work visas was raised by the National Care Association in evidence to the Home Affairs committee, in response to their report ‘Managing Migration’.   The NCA believes that certain overseas nursing qualifications have not been adequately recognised under the system, though this is now being addressed.

“We are therefore delighted that the committee recommends specifically
recalibrating of the awarding of points for nurses to ensure that all
nurses who possess a diploma and are registered with the Nursing and
Midwifery Council attract the same points as those holding a degree and
registration.”
