Better communication will prevent infections – CQC
The Care Quality Commission has released a new document ‘working together to prevent and control infections’ which aims to prevent the cross spread of infection between hospitals and care homes. The report suggests that improvements are needed through the chain of responsabilities between hospital and home, including better discharge information, inclusion of ambulance crews and better implementation of infection control within care homes.
Cynthia Bower, CQC chief executive says:
“Infection prevention and control is not simply an issue for hospitals – care needs to be clean and safe wherever it is provided.
“Care homes and hospitals should make sure that they have good arrangements for joint working to ensure they are providing high quality, safe care. If we find that providers of care are not coming up to standard in this area, we will take action.”
